ASK AMY KOCH
A monthly column from the Executive Director of the Charles Ford Retirement Communities of New Harmony
An Update on our Residents, COVID-19, and Quarantine at the Charles Ford Retirement Communities of New Harmony
We asked Amy Koch, Executive Director at the Charles Ford Retirement Community, to give us an update on the residents, Covid19, and the quarantine:
“Our residents and staff are celebrating this week, because we’ve faced Covid19’s attempt to conquer in our residency, and so far, we’ve won that battle. We’ve all endured through this in-room quarantine and are more than happy to express our gratitude for the blessing of being together to enjoy the good fortune our upcoming Holidays will bring.
“No one will be surprised to learn that this year’s annual Charles Ford Holiday Open House for the general public has had to be cancelled . . . or postponed, if you will, to a time next year, when it’s safe to entertain guests and truly celebrate!
“But . . . if you hear shouts of joy coming from South Main Street in New Harmony in December, don’t be surprised, because Amber Sweeney, our Life Enrichment Director, and I expect to make this year’s celebrations here extra special for our residents. We’re excited about the festive plans we’ve generated and promise that this year’s observances will not fall short of what residents have marveled over in the past. We predict they will be surprised and satisfied with the festivities.
“I do have one request, however, of those who are reading this column. The quarantine has meant extra responsibility and additional sacrifice for everyone working in the healthcare field, and it’s gradually taking its toll. Words cannot express the depth of my appreciation to our devoted team. They have stood firm and given unselfishly during this long and difficult period. I know they do it because they have a passion for this work and a love for our seniors and I am deeply grateful.
“Here’s the request: If you know of a nurse, who is thinking of retiring, but doesn’t want to walk away from the passion to care, we’d like to talk to him or her. Working at the Charles Ford Retirement Community offers competitive wages, generous benefits, and flexible scheduling, in a pleasant, family-like environment. At CFRC, you are treated as a member of our tribe and the tribe is here for each other through it all. That’s how we count our blessings . . . one by one.
“Happy Thanksgiving!”
